The price of a product depends on many factors, such as the cost of the raw materials, the quality of its craftsmanship, its purpose, and its demand.
1.What Makes a Handmade Masterpiece Valuable
The value of a handmade item is entirely different from that of a machine-produced product. A handmade masterpiece derives its value from the skill and reputation of the artisan, the time invested in creating it, its purpose, and its uniqueness. Unlike mass-produced items, every handmade creation is one of a kind. The artisan can recognize his work anywhere, because each piece bears his unique touch and craftsmanship.
Every touch, every stitch, every stroke, and every piece of material is chosen with care and intention. Every detail reflects the heart of the craftsman. That is the beauty of a handmade masterpiece. It is personal, it is intentional, and it is unique.
2.Rare, and Therefore Precious
Now think about a limited-edition product. It is not necessarily better than the regular version, but because it is rare, its value increases. In the same way, a believer who truly walks in intimacy with God, holiness, and obedience is becoming increasingly rare in today's world.
We are God's masterpiece. He formed us, fashioned us with purpose, and created us for His glory. We are forever marked as His own. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit, His divine seal upon our lives, and His very name is written on our foreheads.
Ephesians 2:10 (AMP)
"For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus…"
Revelation 22:4 (NLT)
"And they will see His face, and His name will be written on their foreheads."
3.The Ten Million Dollar Jersey
In 2022, one of Michael Jordan's game-worn Chicago Bulls jerseys from the 1998 NBA Finals (the "Last Dance" season) sold at auction for $10.1 million. A piece of fabric became worth over $10 million, not because of the material it was made from, but because of who wore it. Its value came from the person it belonged to and the story it carried.
In the same way, our worth does not come from what we are made of, but from whose we are. We belong to Christ. We bear His image, His Spirit, and His name. We are God's masterpiece.
We Are His Signature Piece
One thought came to me while preaching. Often we go to a restaurant and ask, "Which is your signature dish?" Even though the chef knows how to prepare many items, there is one unique dish with a secret recipe that sets it apart from all the others.
In the same way, the Lord is the maker of heaven and earth. He spoke, and they came into existence. But there is only one creation He made with His own hands, and gave so much thought to while making it. Of that creation it is said, "We are fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). We are His signature piece, the masterpiece.
Your value is not determined by your skills, talents, education, profession, appearance, or family background. You are precious and valuable because you belong to Christ. He purchased you with His own precious blood.
Your identity is not found in what you do or what you possess. It is secure in Jesus Christ. You are His treasured possession, His masterpiece, created for His glory. This is the heart of what we believe about who God is and who we are in Him.
